    This is a Level 1 award for people who are interested in working and/or volunteering in their community. You will have the opportunity to develop your understanding of volunteering opportunities and the skills you would need to develop your experience in this area.

    For the level one accredited pathway you will cover the following topics.

    1. Developing Your own Interpersonal Skills
    2. Developing Presentation Skills
    3. Carrying out a Research Project
  • Entry requirements

    This programme is for people aged over 19 who would like to get involved in volunteering in their community. You will need to be able to work at L1 . An initial assessment will be carried out by the tutor to assess suitability of the course.
  • How will I be assessed?

    You will build up a portfolio folder of work which shows the range of skills and knowledge you have developed. The work you produce will provide evidence of the Open Award units delivered. You will also receive supportive feedback throughout the course and will be given the opportunity to talk to your tutor and review your work.
  • Is there anything else I need to know?

    • A ring binder folder to keep your work organised is essential.
    • You will also need to bring a pen and a notepad to take notes.
    • You can bring your own device to support learning

    Your tutor will give you advice and guidance on other courses within the college and can signpost you for more advice and training.

    Assessment


    All learners will complete an individual learning plan which will be discussed with their tutor throughout the course.

    Financial


    You may not have to pay tuition fees at all, if you fall into one of the groups eligible for fee exemptions. If you feel you may be eligible or would like someone to explain course fees in more detail, pleasecontact us via our Live Chat service available on any page of our website.

    Adult Learners


    Adult learners (19+) must provide evidence of their existing qualification at enrolment. Learners may not be able to enrol if this information is not provided when requested. If you have lost any certificates please contact your school in the first instance. If they are unable to provide a copy, you can contact one of the following exam boards (your school will be able to tell you which one applies to the exams you took):

You must do the work set during these times or it will impact your progress on the course and therefore your achievement.
