Football Academy Level 3

  • Overview of the course

    This Sports Performance Academy is for those who have a talent for football. The academy is delivered alongside educational qualifications and places are subject to maintaining the required academic standard and attendance.

    The Academy is aimed at boys and girls and run in
    partnership with LutubeÊÓƵ Wanderers Community Trust with access to professional coaching and participation in the AOC Sport College leagues. This is a chance to enjoy your studies and explore your competitive edge.

    A ‘work hard play hard’ ethos is expected of all students and a balanced approach to the sporting/academic demands of the programme is essential.

    The course provides a comprehensive
    introduction into the health, fitness and sports industry.

    You’ll investigate how the body works, and how to plan and take part in improving your own fitness and that of others. You’ll also learn how to lead sporting activities as well as assist in organising and running a sports event.

    Focus will be given to exploring job opportunities and the skills required to work in the industry, such as assessing risks and hazards, and dealing with accidents and emergency situations.

    Work experience is also an integral part of our study programmes, enabling you to gain essential exposure to the world of work.

    You will build on the skills that you gained on the Level 2 course.

    We encourage our students to continue their English & maths study to Level 3.

    Elements of Study
    Your programme consists of the following elements:
    • Study of your chosen vocational subject (50% of your programme)
    • English and maths (continued until the achievement of GCSE grade 4 (C) or equivalent)
    • Employability skills (e.g. punctuality, attendance,
    communication and team work)
    • Work experience (giving you a taste of working life)
    • Tutorial & personal development (e.g. healthy living, volunteering and citizenship skills)
  • Entry requirements

    We’d like to see a proven track record of very good
    attendance at school/work, along with a good reference from school/a previous employer. We also ask that you have two GCSEs at Grade 4 or above, or a Level 2 qualification in Sports and a satisfactory level of English and maths.

    • A Football Coach, earning between £14,000 and
    £250,000 per year, depending on experience
    • A Sports Coach, earning between £14,000 to £35,000 per year

    This course may be free if you are aged 19-23 and do not already hold a full level 3, or higher, qualification.

    Assessment


    All learners will complete an individual learning plan which will be discussed with their tutor throughout the course.

    Financial

    Adult learners (19+) must provide evidence of their existing qualification at enrolment. Learners may not be able to enrol if this information is not provided when requested. If you have lost any certificates please contact your school in the first instance.
