    This course replaces the Basic Food Hygiene Certificate course and targets anyone working in a setting where food is prepared, cooked and handled. It will be particularly useful for people handling food in various environments which could include:
    - pubs
    - hotels or restaurants
    - supermarkets or retail units
    - hospitals or care homes
    - schools and prisons

  • What you'll learn

    You will gain a firm grasp of the importance of food safety and knowledge of the systems, techniques and procedures involved. An understanding of how to control food safety risks (personal hygiene, food storage, cooking and handling) and a confidence & expertise to safely deliver quality food to customers. The course will be taught by industry trained experts who regularly attend update training.
  • Entry requirements

    No formal qualifications are required. Ideally the learner will be coming into contact with food in a work environment. Learners who first language is not English need a level 1 qualification in English Language to enrol on this course. If you enrol without a Level 1 your place will be cancelled and you will receive a refund.
  • How will I be assessed?

    There will be an exam at the end of the course comprising of 20 multi choice questions; of which 13 must be answered correctly to pass.
  • Is there anything else I need to know?

    It is recommended that learners refresh this qualification at least every three years so you have the most up to date training and knowledge of Food Safety Law.

    On completion of this course learners can progress onto the Level 3 Award in Food Safety if they are in a supervisory role. Please ask your tutor on the day for more details.

    Assessment


    All learners will complete an individual learning plan which will be discussed with their tutor throughout the course.

    Financial


    You may not have to pay tuition fees at all, if you fall into one of the groups eligible for fee exemptions. If you feel you may be eligible or would like someone to explain course fees in more detail, pleasecontact us via our Live Chat service available on any page of our website.

    Adult Learners


    Adult learners (19+) must provide evidence of their existing qualification at enrolment. Learners may not be able to enrol if this information is not provided when requested. If you have lost any certificates please contact your school in the first instance. If they are unable to provide a copy, you can contact one of the following exam boards (your school will be able to tell you which one applies to the exams you took):
